In collaboration with Spanish Professionals in Chicago, Women in Bio, and the Association of Spanish Scientists in the United States, Instituto Cervantes Chicago is hosting a unique science event called “I Noche Blanca de la Ciencia” (First White Night of Science).
This educational and engaging event is set to take place at their venue on 31 W. Ohio St. The event, tailored for families, runs from 4-9 p.m. on November 15 and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on November 16, offering free admission to all attendees.
The event’s main objective is to spark interest in science among children aged 6-12, by providing opportunities to interact with respected scientists from diverse fields in an enjoyable and stimulating environment. Attendees can look forward to an array of talks held in both Spanish and English as well as various interactive workshops.
Themes for these sessions are varied and intriguing, covering topics such as how advances in materials engineering and science aid in coral reef reforestation, presented by Dr. Joaquín Yus of the University of Urbana-Champaign.
Other sessions include “Horus XV: From Spain to Space,” which explores space terrains and life, and a discussion on artificial intelligence titled “Know and Explore the Artificial Intelligence: The Potential of the Future?” conducted by Dr. José Martínez from CCC Intelligent Solutions. A keynote address by Dr. Teresa Nieves from NASA titled “Living in the Atmosphere of a Star” is also part of the exciting lineup.
